Administration Orders

What is a County Court Administration Order?

  • A County Court Administration Order groups together a debtor’s credit debts and a number of other types of debt.
  • Once grouped together, the debtor will pay a monthly sum into the court, with a county court administrator able to divide the amount out amongst the creditors on a pro-rata basis.

Who Can Apply?
To apply for a County Court Administration Order, you must have:

  • At least two debts.
  • At least one county court or High Court judgement sanctioned against you.
  • Total debts lower than £5000.

How Do I Apply?

  • Apply to your local county court office for an Administration Order Form N92.
  • Follow the notes that accompany the form on how to complete it.
  • On the first page it will request a list of your debts; ensure that you list all of your debts, including credit debts and arrears on priority debts.

How Long Does it Last?

  • A County Court Administration Order will continue until all debt is paid off, unless a judge introduces a composition order or you fail to meet agreed payments.
  • If your circumstances should change, your creditors may review your payments or you could apply to alter the terms of the agreement.
  • It will remain on your credit reference for up to six years after the issuance of the administration order.

What are the Main Benefits?

  • It can save you time and the hassle of trying to structure and organise repayments on your own.
  • All interest and charges that were continuously added to your debt are suspended.
  • You won’t need journeys on a regular basis in order to fulfill payments, saving you time and money.

What are the Main Drawbacks?

  • As you must list all of your debts, this can sometimes include mortgage arrears and other priority debts, making it appear as though your debt is in excess of the £5000 limit.
  • Another person may have borrowed the money with you, but as it isn’t possible to make joint applications with County Court Administration Orders, it can make things difficult.
  • If the information you have provided makes it appear as though you can’t meet the repayments, your application may be rejected.

When Can I Call?

  • You can call the debt helpline any time; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
